THE PROBLEM

Little Opportunities

Up-and-coming bands and musicians often face significant barriers in securing gigs and organising concerts, limiting their ability to develop their talents and build audiences.

Limited Accessibility

The current concert landscape often excludes younger audiences, with events either limited to 18+ venues or unsuitable and unsafe to underage attendees. This creates a gap in opportunities for teenagers to experience live music in a safe and engaging environment.

Unaffordable Ticket Prices

Rising ticket prices have made live music inaccessible to many, especially students and teenagers. The Audience Atlas Aotearoa 2020 summary said expense is the number 1 barrier preventing engagement in Aotearoa. This financial barrier results in youth missing opportunities to attend concerts and engage meaningfully with their communities.

OUR SOLUTION

Create Opportunities

We provide performance opportunities, mentorship, and workshops to nurture talent and support long-term career growth.

Accessible Concerts

Our events are designed to bridge the gap for underage audiences, creating safe, engaging, and affordable experiences. Practical considerations, such as all age venues, affordable ticketing and inclusive scheduling will make our concerts accessible to a wide audience.

Sustainable Funding Model

By leveraging brand partnerships, merchandise sales, and koha ticketing models, we can prioritise affordability whilst maintaining financial sustainability.

Scalable model

By utilising existing resources in early phases and building scalable infrastructure, we create a financially efficient model that allows us to grow sustainably, benefiting both artists and audiences at all stages along the way.

Why

What makes the name Ultraviolet special?

The name Ultraviolet represents pushing boundaries and making the impossible possible. Ultraviolet light exists at the edge of the visible spectrum, just beyond what we can see, much like the untapped potential of young musicians, waiting to be unlocked.

In nature, UV rays enhance and illuminate, bringing out a glow that might otherwise go unnoticed. Just as sunlight makes colours richer and old tungsten lights make performers pop on stage, Ultraviolet exists to help emerging musicians shine. By providing opportunities, mentorship, and a platform to grow, we aim to be the light that helps artists glow.

However, Ultraviolet is more than just a name. Its openness allows it to be shaped by the community. We are building something that resonates with youth, something they can see themselves in and feel excited to be part of. Ultraviolet isn’t just about music; it’s about creating a movement, a space where teenagers can connect, artists can push limits, and live events can be reimagined.

About The Founder

Ultraviolet was founded by Ephraim Frame, a passionate musician and event manager dedicated to empowering young artists in Aotearoa. A winner of Smokefreerockquest Nationals 2022, Tunes of Waikato and New Found Sound, and a finalist in Play It Strange and Peace Song, Ephraim has recorded at Roundhead, Parachute, and The Porch and has three years of experience in the events industry. With a proven track record in both performance and event management, he is committed to creating better opportunities for young musicians.

As an Arts Captain in high school, Ephraim witnessed firsthand how live music can transform students, building confidence, creativity, and community. This experience inspired Ultraviolet, an initiative designed to provide young musicians with performance opportunities, industry experience, and professional development. Now studying Performing Arts Management at Toi Whakaari: NZ National Drama School, he is refining his expertise and building the networks needed to bring Ultraviolet to life.

To Ephraim, Ultraviolet is about more than just concerts, it’s about fostering positive communities for youth, creating unforgettable events, and shaping the next generation of music professionals.
